The New Path To IG Fame!

Once upon a time, before Instagram was bought out by Facebook and basically forced you to pay your way to IG fame, you could use tags such as #like & #bestofIG and get seen by the hundreds; use those tags on your posts now, and you'll probably get no views, or if you're lucky, a generic comment from a spammer page trying to sell you something.

If you're a small account trying to gain popularity with a $0 budget, you can still do that without stooping down to spamming Kylie Jenner's comment section, thanks to Instagram Story Hashtags & Location Tags!

Below is a real screenshot of an IG story from my client, showing the view count difference with/without hashtags. Note that only 4 tags were used on the story and it got over 3x the views as the one on the feed which had 30 hashtags linked!

In 24hrs this story nearly gained 1k views from people specifically interested in the quilting/sewing/crafting world (my client's industry).

How To Use This Information To Promote Yourself

  1. Experiment: Use related hashtags & your location tag and see which ones give you the most views.

  2. Promote: Use your location tag and up to 10 hashtags to be seen in multiple places on the app, and tag your username in the story so viewers can easily go to your page.

PRO TIP: Type the hashtags with the text tool to use multiple tags in one story and use the color picker to camouflage them if you don't want them to be seen. Don't shrink the tags too small or they will not work!

NOTE: You will not always show up under a tag if it's too popular or if you used too many hashtags in your story. It is sometimes harder to be seen under a popular hashtag when you add your username, polls, and other stickers.
